"Round dance" is a great way to learn ballroom dance moves because it is pre-choreographed with a cuer who guides couples smoothly through the dance to the music. It helps couples learn and practice a pleasing variety of moves; takes the pressure off the man to lead and the woman to follow. Many couples find it easier to learn to ballroom dance this way!
"Round" Dance is done in ballroom dance rhythms: (smooth) fox trot, waltz, two step, (Latin) rumba, cha cha, mambo, tango and even jive! The Country Stars Square and Round Dance Club has mostly done a variety of Waltzes and Two Steps, although interest is growing in the Latin rhythms and jive. "Pre-choreographed Ballroom Dance" OR
A new beginner class is being offered in Gibsons in September. To sign up, please call Parks and Recreation: 604-886-6865. The Round dancing offered at the Senior's Hall in September will be for those who have already taken beginner lessons. It's a fun, easy way to learn waltz and Two Step! A cuer tells the couples what steps to do as they go along, which takes the pressure off leading and following. Dances are pre-choreographed with a variety of steps that flow from one to the next. Round dancing skills make ordinary social ballroom dancing easier and more fun too!
Monday night pre-choreographed ballroom lessons, put on by the Square and Round Dance Club, have been ongoing at the Senior's Center for many years already. They were set up originally for square dancers who wanted to learn the pre-choreographed ballroom dances we do (in addition to squares) on Wednesday evenings.
