Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre
Transferred from the Home Page special items and held for awhile for review.
We are in need of a volunteer to take over our outside notice board/sign from Joe Clitheroe, who has done a great job, but wishes to hand it over to someone else. This would require a change of notices on the board twice a month and possibly more - at times.
We are looking for volunteers for our Financial Advisory Committee. This committee is part of our Constitutional Bylaws and would be filled by volunteers from the general membership with possible backgrounds in any of the following: accounting, auditing, taxes, or insurance. The Chair of this committee would be the First Vice President from the Executive. This committee would be looking into issues such as our insurance policies, grant applications, taxes and provincial regulations, and, as well, this committee would act as the internal auditor for the Centre.
Grocery Slips. If you support the Centre by turning in your grocery receipts, thank you. If you turn in your IGA grocery receipts, we have a request from Evelyn, our volunteer who totals our receipts for our much appreciated credits; "Please do NOT tear off the date at the bottom of the slips - your receipt slip cannot be used if this is missing." Thank you.
Vial of Life
The Lions Club and various pharmacies are cooperating to fund the Vial of Life program on the Sunshine Coast. This consists of a form listing your BC Medical Plan number, your doctor's name, any medications you are taking, allergies and your medical/surgical history. The completed form is placed in a plastic container and taped inside your refrigerator door. There is also a small magnetic sticker to be placed on the outside of the refrigerator door so that anybody called to assist in case of an emergency will know that you are part of the program. If the First Responders have ready access to this information it reduces the amount of time needed to assist in case of an emergency. This program has been started on the Coast at the initiative of one individual. The Power of One can never be underestimated.
These forms and containers are now available at the Centre's reception desk.
